I have lived in Tillamook County all of my life. I am attending college to further my education to ensure a stable career for my future. I want to be an actress, singer, youth pastor and event planner all together. I am currently studying for a business degree. I like that TBCC is close to home, inexpensive, and a smaller environment for more one-on-one connections in the classroom and with faculty and staff. I became involved in PTK because I like being involved, I enjoy leading, and this position challenges me to practice my skills as a leader. The PTK benefits are also nice. My advice to new students is to not procrastinate - do it NOW and you will feel better for it! |

I was born in Tillamook County and raised in the town of Nehalem. I am currently attending Tillamook Bay Community College to fulfill my prerequisites for a Business transfer degree. I am seeking to enter the fields of Business and Accounting and hopefully will also enter the fields of Law and Political Science further in the future. When trying to understand what I wanted, I found that attending TBCC was the best decision I could make; completing General Education classes that are often required at 4 year colleges, costing more than community colleges. The teachers and faculty have been very helpful and encouraging as I tried to understand what I wanted to do in the future. After my first successful term at the college I was asked by the late Chapter President, Justin Roth, to join Phi Theta Kappa. At the time I was unsure if joining the honor society was the right decision and whether it would have have benefitted my future education. I decided to take the plunge and joined. I soon found doors were opening up to me as I began to receive letters from colleges and universities that have recognized my membership in PTK and have asked for my possible future attendance at their schools. Not only was it rich with scholarships and possibilities but I also found that the PTK community was friendly and professional, seeking out to assist one another in their endeavors. After a year of being a member I decided to take up the position of Vice President in the Beta Delta Epsilon Chapter after the current officer team stepped down for the next generation of members to take their place. It has been a learning experience as we have tackled a variety of issues and hosted fund raisers to support our tiny chapter, it was an experience I know will benefit me as I move on to a 4 year college to further my education. For current and new students attending TBCC I would recommend that you look up the PTK chapter and its officers and ask us what we are about, you might find yourself with doors of opportunity opening up in front of you. |

I grew up, the youngest of 4 kids, on a farm in Indiana, my father was a High School teacher and farmer, my mother was a N.A. at our county hospital. It was always a dream of mine to "see" the West Coast and the Pacific Ocean. And now I have not only "seen" it, I live here, Wow! I have spent 10 years in the Head Start Program (C.A.T.), and now, this being my third year at TBCC, and I'm just having such a great time here! Making new friends, learning new stuff, enjoying the thrill of being SUCCESSFUL!!! It is an amazing new world for me and I am so thankful to be here. I want to tell others what incredible opportunities await them at our local TBCC campus. I'm not sure where the future is taking me, but I am sure that I will be well prepared for whatever comes my way! Life is full of possibilities!!! |

I have lived in Tillamook for nine years. My dad actually works here at TBCC and my mom works at Tillamook Vision Center. I have two brothers and one sister. My family is the reason I got involved with PTK, my brother was previously an officer in PTK and since my dad works here he has been involved in PTK activities before, they both said great things about it so I decided I wanted to be a part of it as well. I graduated from Tillamook High School last year and am taking classes at TBCC just for a year before transferring to Western Oregon University to major in Elementary Education. I have wanted to make an impact on kids for most of my life. I am enjoying my time here at TBCC but also really looking forward to transferring and starting over in a new place. |

My name is Krista Moore. I was born in 1992 and have one older sibling. I'm part German, Italian, Swedish, Irish, Scottish, and Welch. I am the tallest woman in my family and my dad is the tallest man. My grandma on my dad's side is the shortest. I stand at 6 feet 5 inches and dad is 6 feet 7 inches. In order from tallest to shortest it goes: dad, me, mom, uncle, papa, Nick, Britt, Aunt, Grandma, baby cousin. I have other family members that go on this list but that would take too long. My dream is to either become a chef or an educator in early childhood. In the future I see myself opening my own 5 star restaurant and my own day care or my own headstart. That is what I am going to school for. One day, I hope to start my own family. I am in PTK to help me interact better with other students. |
