High School Program Information
The Hospitality, Tourism & Recreation program is a great
educational opportunity for Tillamook County Students! This partnership
is through:
- Nestucca High School
- Neah-Kah-Nie High School
- Tillamook High School
- Tillamook Bay Community College
- Northwest Regional Educational Service District
This program qualifies for credit in the Hospitality, Tourism
Management Program at Tillamook Bay Community College.
Opportunities in this program are open to all students, regardless of
race, color, National Origin, sex or disability.

The demand for trained staff in the hospitality, tourism and recreational
fields will exceed the expected supply within the next ten years.
Trained hospitality, tourism & recreation professionals can work
successfully in any part of the United States!
Students will be introduced to the food service industry. Through lessons
and practical applications, students will become competent in sanitation and
safety, as well as proper use, care and cleaning of basic kitchen equipment.

CULINARY ARTS/RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT
Tour food and beverage facilities and discuss characteristics of each.
Identify service needs of guests in relation to food and beverages. Prepare
basic hot foods, sandwiches, salads and bake a variety of food items.
Explore career opportunities in the food and beverage industry.
LODGING
Tour lodging facilities and discuss the characteristics of each. Discuss
the major historical events and dates in the evolution of the lodging
industry. Identify current issues and trends in the lodging industry.
Explore employment opportunities in the lodging industry.
TOURISM
Identify major tourism organizations and their characteristics. Analyze
marketing techniques used by travel/tourism organizations in travel/tourism
industries.
RECREATION
Visit local public and private recreation and leisure facilities.
Identify concepts and definitions associated with recreation and leisure
studies. Discuss economic impacts and recreation and leisure activities.
